108 TAFE NSW -- Western Sydney Institute -- Course and Career Guide 2013 WSI o ers a range of support services to help you make the most of your learning experience with us. These include: • Customer Service Centres for all your general information enquiries • Counselling and Career Development Services o ering friendly, professional and confidential services. These services are available to enrolled and prospective students for course and career counselling as well as advice on study or personal di culties • Aboriginal Education Coordinators and the Aboriginal Student Support O cers, who assist Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people with course selection and support services • Teacher Consultants for students with a disability providing advice and educational support to prospective and enrolled students with disabilities. Support may include reasonable adjustments such as modified learning resources, interpreters and adaptive technology. • Multicultural Education Coordinators for advice and support to prospective and enrolled students from language backgrounds other than English • International Student Coordinators providing assistance to full fee paying students who have come from overseas to study • Learning Centres for help with literacy, numeracy, English as a second language, maths, science, English, computer or communication skills, no matter which course you are studying at WSI • Libraries which are located at each College and provide friendly professional service to students and sta to help you find the information you need. All libraries provide access to personal computers, the internet and course related resources for student use. Childcare for Children of Enrolled Students in WSI WSI assists enrolled students who have childcare needs. On campus childcare services are available at the following Western Sydney Colleges: • Nepean TAFE Children’s Centre for Kingswood and Penrith students. Aboriginal Education and Training Unit Aboriginal Student Support O cers provide support and advice regarding education and training programs and student support services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people at all Colleges. Intending students can talk to a Counsellor about their course and career plans. Counsellors can provide enrolled students with: • an assessment of learning needs and options • guidance in planning career direction and goals • help in study and exam matters • guidance to improve course results • applications for tertiary study • help with personal issues such as how to manage depression, anxiety and other matters • assistance in resume writing and job seeking. Group programs are also available in study skills, time management, goal setting, managing anxiety, resolving conflict, job interview techniques and career planning. The Counselling and Career Development Service is a one stop shop on your way to success.
