15 SUPPORTING YOUR STUDIES LANGUAGE, LITERACY AND NUMERACY The Skills for Education and Employment (SEE) program, formerly known as the Language, Literacy and Numeracy Program (LLNP), helps eligible jobseekers improve their reading, writing, listening, speaking and numeracy skills. Preparation for employment and vocational training are an important part of this program. Jobseekers wishing to access this program will need a referral from the Department of Human Services (Centrelink) or Employment Services Provider. Literacy and numeracy courses are available at basic and advanced levels. English for Speakers of Other languages (ESOL) courses are available at all levels of English: initial, basic and advanced. Flexible programs, usually run for groups of people in community centres can be arranged in areas including Work Opportunities for Women, Work Options for Men, Education, Career and Employ ment Options as well as a range of other prevocational and vocational courses can be made for each group of students. TVET courses give you credit towards your HSC and towards an Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) qualification which is recognised by employers, TAFE NSW and other vocational education and training providers across Australia. TVET courses offer opportunities to gain traineeships and apprenticeships whilst still attending school, as well as post school.
